Ever Wonder If A Book Is Good Or Not???

After buying and reading the book Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick I fell in love.  I ended up finishing it and reading the little sneak peek of the second one and thinking to myself that I must buy and read the next one.  I fell in love with the characters and getting upset when something happened to them that I didn’t approve of.  I even cried when certain parts happened.  http://thebooksmugglers.com/2009/10/book-review-hush-hush-by-becca-fitzpatrick.html Critics say that the book is quite good.  Even though the cover doesn’t give you much of what the book is about, but you can understand why the cover is the way it is when you start reading the book.   You will hopefully understand why the characters do what they do after a while of reading it and eventually you will fall in love with the characters as if you were there in the book with them.  Even though there are parts of the book that have words you may not know they give you a good description of the word so you can have a good idea as to what the word means.  Usually Becca will tell you what a certain word means if it’s not a word we usually hear like the word Naphilim.  At first I had no idea what it meant but after reading the book itself I now understand what it means and have encountered it in a different book by a different author all together.  I was surprised when I found that word in the book I’m reading now but I was happy to know what it meant even though it told me what the word meant.  If you’re wondering what the word means it describes a person that is part human and part angel.  As crazy as it sounds the word is really cool in my opinion.  I really like the book and I hope you check it out and like it too.

How to pick out the best book for you

I know it’s extremely hard to pick a good book to read.  There are so many choices that you have to make and then you have to make sure you’ll be interested with it and not read part of it and get bored and stop reading it.  The best way to figure out if you’ll be interested in it is by reading the back of the book in my opinion.  Once you read the back of it you can get a good idea of what the book will be about and if you will be interested in it or not.  If you end up choosing to read the book and then half way through it you get bored with it put it down for a few days and then go back to it maybe it will get better after a few days of separation.  If you have an issue finding a certain genre of book to read don’t be scared to ask your school librarian or you local librarian they will work with you and find you a book that you will most likely want to read and if you have an idea for a book you might like they can try to find it in the library or they will find a way to get it to you so you can read it.  If you are looking in a book store for a book the person working the counter will be able to help you find what you’re looking for or will happily suggest a certain genre to you after you tell them what your interested in.  If all else fails and you can’t find a good book I would say go online and try to google the book you want and see where you can purchase it or check it out of a library.  http://www.thomasvan.com/inspiration/4-easy-ways-to-find-the-book-you-need there are many other ways to find the book of your dreams.  There is no right or wrong way to find what you’re looking for there are just easier and harder ways to going around what you need to do to find it.  After you read one book you might find out it’s in a series and you will have to buy it and read them all.  I hope you all go out and find a great book to read that you will fall in love with not only the book itself but the characters and the setting and I hope you can feel like you are actually apart of the book and really in the setting.    I hope you look like this when you find your great book.

How To… How I would start writing a book

I would probably start out by picking out what kind of genre I would enjoy the most to write.  I would then proceed to pick out names for my characters.  They would be something interesting and like none other hopefully that people can relate to in some way.  I would try to come up with a scenario that would be interesting and new to the people reading.  If you have everything you need to start writing then I would start actually writing a rough draft on paper and let my ideas flow.  After a couple of times of writing I would then start typing up my story on the computer and then I would go back and write more on paper or if I don’t go back to the paper writing I’ll add more to the computer.  I would try to think of relevent events to take place in the story as I write.  Sometimes if I were to get writers block and stop writing for a while I would always go back and write more eventually. If you can’t think of anything to write about feel free to ask friends for ideas I’m sure they will be more than happy to give you something to go off of and if not feel free to look up certain ideas that might sound good to you.  You don’t have to start writing out of the blue you could have a dream or something like that that gives you an idea to write about.  Stephanie Meyer, the author of the Twilight Saga actually got her idea for Twilight from a dream she had.   http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/bio.html  You could also start out by writing short stories and then as you get the hang of writing you can expand on the short stories and make them longer and more detailed and then you can eventually start writing chapters for books.  The most important step to writing a book is to just sit down and write and ignore everything else.  To start writing a book you need to start writing period.  http://www.bookcoachpress.com/writing-help/start-writing.html  If you can’t just sit down and write I recommend finding a way to block out everything around you like listening to music.  It seems to help me when I do anything from reading to writing.  I find listening to music while reading and writing to help me focus better on what I’m doing instead of being in a quiet place.  The quietness of the room bothers me and distracts me more than having headphones in my ears listening to music while reading and writing.  The only thing I can say is if you want to start writing your own book get in the habit of just writing period.  Take pride in your work and don’t worry about who is going to be reading your work until after your done writing so you don’t discourage yourself out of writing what could possibly be the best thing ever.

Books What’s hot and what’s not

There are many books nowadays that sell very well in stores and there are some that don’t.  50 Shades Of Gray is a very popular seller written by E.L. James.  The series has sold approximately 60 million copies in the short time that it has been out.   It is Britain’s best-selling book in fact.  The Harry Potter series and The Davinci Code are also on the best-selling list.  The Davinci Code written by Dan Brown has sold approximately 80 million copies and the Harry Potter series written by J.K. Rowling has sold 450 million copies approximately.  The very well-known Twilight series written by Stephanie Meyer has sold approximately 116 million copies.

J.K. Rowling has written and published a new book called The Casual Vancancy.  She published it in September of 2012.

There are things called e-Readers that are more common than regular books nowadays people don’t read regular books they read their kindles and nooks and e-Readers.  According to http://reviews.cnet.com/best-ebook-readers/ the kindle is the best e-Reader.  I personally own a nook and I like it.

If you need a really good book that leaves you with a message then I recommend you read Th1rteen R3asons Why by Jay Asher.  It’s about a kid who gets these 13 tapes that happen to be the 13 reasons why this girl in his class committed suicide.  I’ve read it and loved it,  http://www.centraltimes.org/news/2012/04/02/4141/ This gives you an insight on what went into making Th1rteen R3asons Why.

There are some books that are the worst sold books.  One of them is Cooking Okra with Oprah. Chaz Bono’s Transgender Fitness Workout, Can You Marry Your Gay Cousin In North Carolina? and More Brain Teasers, Fifty Shades of Gray’s Anatomy, Dress For Success the Nicki Minaj Way, Why I Only Date/Marry Guys Whos Names Start With The Letter K by Kim Kardashian and 101 Ways To Hide Your Receding Hairline by Labron James are other worst selling books of the year so far.

Reading… What you don’t know

There are many different genres of books out there from Romance to Dark Fantasy.  If you read this and ask yourself what is Dark Fantasy its associated with the horror genre.  Dark Fantasy is a subgenre of the fantasy genre.  Dark Fantasy is usually gloomy and sad.  I myself have never heard about the genre Dark Fantasy until today.  It is quite hard to differentiate between fantasy and fiction. It happens to be extremely hard to differentiate between fantasy and science fiction.  Science fiction deals with imaginary but plausible things and is set more with futuristic elements where Fantasy deals with magic and supernatural phenomena.  Harry Harrison is just one of the many Science Fiction writers.  He was born in 1925 and died in 2012 he was 87 years old.

“Harrison was an extremely popular figure in the SF world, renowned for being amiable, outspoken and endlessly amusing. His quickfire, machine-gun delivery of words was a delight to hear, and a reward to unravel: he was funny and self-aware, he enjoyed reporting the follies of others, he distrusted generals, prime ministers and tax officials with sardonic and cruel wit, and above all he made plain his acute intelligence and astonishing range of moral, ethical and literary sensibilities.”
This was written by fellow novelist Christopher Priest in Harrison’s obituary.
Priest himself wrote at least 59 pieces of literature ranging from novels to short stories and others.
H.G. Wells was a big inspiration for Priest.  His book The Outline of History was read by Jose Ferrer who took it to heart and permanently abolished the military of Costa Rica.
Harry Harrison  That picture there is of Harry Harrison.
H.G. Wells  That is H.G. Wells.  He is said to be the best and most influential Science Fiction writers.
There are many great Fantasy writers as well. J.K. Rowling is just one of them.  You should know her as the famous author of the 7 book saga of Harry Potter.  http://www.mania.com/top-20-greatest-fantasy-writers-alltime_article_114266.html  These are the top 20 Fantasy writers of all time.
With all the new book releases selling 15 copies a second you can imagine how many books are sold in a year.  http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_books_are_sold_in_a_year
